It’s a fact….employees do not perform well when confronted with legal or financial problems. If the receptionist is worrying about her son’s arrest…a job foreman is in a dispute with his landlord…or your top salesman is bickering with the car repair shop…they are not thinking about work.

Most employees are convinced they can’t afford an attorney and often try unsuccessfully to handle complex legal problems on their own. Others are intimidated by the law or are simply unsure of how to find a qualified attorney. Whatever the reason, foregoing legal help often leads to damages far beyond the scope of the original problem. Individuals frequently suffer anxiety, frustration and depression when struggling with these issues. At work, this often leads to distractions, loss of productivity and reduced attendance.

Legal Services

In addition to counseling services, the Directions Employee Assistance Program’s legal services are administered by CLC, Incorporated.

Legal

Each client is entitled to one (1) initial thirty-minute office or telephone consultation per separate legal matter at no cost with a network attorney. In the event that you wish to retain a participating attorney after the initial consultation, you will be provided with a preferred rate reduction of 25% from the attorney’s normal hourly rate. Virtually all types of legal matters are eligible for these services.

Matters involving disputes or actions between members and their employer, CLC or its plan sponsors, agents or their officers, directors or employees are specifically excluded from eligibility of this plan.  Also excluded are matters that, in the attorney’s opinion, lack merit.  Court costs, filing fees and fines are the responsibility of the member.

Mediation

Each client is entitled to one (1) initial thirty-minute office or telephone consultation per separate legal matter at no cost with a network mediator. In the event that the member wishes to retain a participating mediator after the initial consultation, they will be provided with a preferred rate reduction of 25% from the mediator’s normal hourly rate. Typical matters may include divorce & child custody, contractual & consumer disputes, real estate & landlord tenant, car accidents & insurance disputes, etc.

Unlimited access to the CLC Premium Web Site and its services is available, which includes but is not limited to enhanced legal and financial forms (there are more than 5,000 and are updated regularly) more than 45 financial calculators, professionally written articles, FAQ’s and much more. Examples of the types of matters for which consumers may use this program include: Civil/Consumer Issues, Personal/Family Legal Services, Financial Matters, Real Estate, Criminal Matters, Estate Planning Law, and Immigration and Naturalization.

Free Will Preparation

Members will also have access to the interactive Online Will Program which provides the plan participants with a resource to create their own will privately online. The participant follows the prompts for the will format selected, building their own will, which they can then download/print, with complete instructions on proper signing and witnesses, so the will is valid.

“Do It Yourself” Legal Forms Document Preparation

CLC has a simple and inexpensive online/assisted (users will have access to telephonic document preparers) process which enables consumers to complete their own legal document preparation from the comfort of their home, without incurring the cost of an attorney, or dealing with lengthy completion and delivery periods. User’s will receive a preferred discount of 10% off and the types of forms include, divorce, wills, living wills, power of attorneys, immigration and much more.

FINANCIAL SERVICES

Directions EAP’s contracted program also provides eligible members with financial assistance.

Financial Consultations

Each member is entitled to a no cost telephonic consultation with CLC’s staff model financial counselors. Typical matters include credit counseling, debt and budgeting assistance, tax planning, retirement and college planning questions. These services are provided by seasoned financial professionals and licensed CPA’s. Telephone consultations are generally limited to thirty minutes per issue. In the event a member wishes to retain their counselor for additional services, members may elect to continue working with their coach through MySecureAdvantage at a rate of $39.95 per month. This service provides the member with unlimited access to their financial coach and the member may continue on a month to month basis.

Tax Preparation and Consultation Component

Members are entitled to receive a 30-minute income tax planning related consultation per year on each separate tax issue they encounter. Preparation of all personal income tax documents are prepared by a CPA at a preferred rate reduction of 25% from the CPA’s normal fee.

Examples of the types of matters for which you may use this program include: Developing a Spending Plan, Rebuilding Your Credit, Getting Out of Debt, Garnishments, Tax Levy/Wage Garnishment Resolution Program, Pre-Retirement Analysis, 401(k) Review, Home Buying Strategies, Mortgage Refinance Check-Up, College Funding Analysis and Income Tax Services.

This legal resource is designed to meet the most common legal needs of employees and their families. The plan focuses on insuring that minor legal problems are addressed and dealt with before they become overwhelming – or financially devastating.
